Quilt Sizes

How to Determine the Quilt Size
1) Begin with Standard Mattress Size (see below)
2) Add the Drop (thickness of the mattress)
3) Add the pillow tuck (usually 10" - 12")
4) Allow for shrinkage during quilting (5% - 10%)

Note: A quilt is used with a dust ruffle and is not a bead spread, which hangs to the floor.

Example #1: King Size bed quilt. (in inches)
Width: 78 + 12 (drop) + 12 = 102 + 10 (shrinkage) = 112
Length: 80 + 12 (drop) + 12 (pillow tuck) = 102 + 10 (shrinkage) = 112
The finished quilt needs to be 112" x 112" (with a pillow tuck)

Example #2: Twin quilt. (in inches)
Width: 39 + 10 (drop) + 10 = 59 + 6 (shrinkage) = 65
Length: 75 + 10 (drop) +10 (pillow tuck) = 95 + 10 = 105
The finished quilt needs to be 65" x 105" with a pillow tuck (opt)
